Wellness Design

What is wellness design? It simply means to design your life from the inside out; from the foods we eat, to the clothes we wear, to the products we use in order to live a healthy life. It’s about taking care of our planet, optimizing our life, and helping others do the same.

Relaxing and recovering takes place where we live and our living spaces have a tremendous impact on our emotional and physical well-being. From function & flow, to organization and decoration, your space will either sabotage you or support you.

Why should you consider wellness design? There are 5 facets to wellness design; health and fitness, safety & security, accessibility, functionality, comfort & joy.

Let’s take a look at what they mean for you and why you should consider them. This month we’ll focus on Fitness and heath and my favorite items that I incorporate into my daily life.

Fitness & Health

Let me ask you a few questions to get you thinking about your wellness.

  1. Does your home support your exercise goals, nutrition, hygiene, rest and recovery?
  2. How are you creating healthy meals to nourish your body? What utensils are you using? What foods do you keep stocked in your fridge and pantry? Do you have the right water filter?
  3. Are you creating a sanctuary for sleeping? Do you keep your electronics out of your room? What fabric are your sheets, pillows, mattresses made out of? Do you have blackout shades/curtains? Do you turn your wifi off at night or do you cover your bed/phone with a faraday cage?
  4. Do you have a gym or a room that you can use for exercise in your home?
  5. Do you have a chlorine filter for your shower, or home?
  6. Do you have an air filter for your home?
  7. What kind of makeup, cleaning, hygiene products do you use?
  8. Do you have carpet or solid surfaces in your home?

All questions to consider when it comes to your health…because it matters!
